Stye and Chalazion
Stye (Hordeolum) is an infectious abscess of the eyelid gland. It usually happens in the area where the eyelash follicles are located. Antibiotic drops and hot compresses are recommended for treatment. Response to medical treatment is very good. Surgical treatment is applied to patients who do not respond to drug treatment and when the lesion cannot be tolerated cosmetically.
Chalazion occurs as a result of the obstruction of the valve gland openings and the non-infectious accumulation of gland secretion. Steroid injection into the lesion and surgical evacuation of the contents may be required in cases that do not regress.
