Eyelash Disorders
The condition in which the lashed edge of the eyelid or only the eyelashes are incorrectly directed towards the eye surface is called trichiasis. The situation where more eyelashes come out from behind the normal eyelash row and come into contact with the eye surface is called distichiasis. In both cases, due to the contact of the eyelashes with the eye surface and irritation, it causes complaints of stinging, watering and redness in patients. Pulling eyelashes with tweezers is a common mistake made by patients because it provides temporary relief. Irritation can be reduced by using tear drops in the early stages. It can be treated by burning the eyelash follicles with laser and radiofrequency or by surgical method.
